Holiday Lets and Cottages in the South East of England | Holiday Lets Heathrow and Oxford

The South East of England is a vast region with a wide variety of tourist attractions for people of all ages and backgrounds. Much of the area is on the coast or close by, so the region offers many water sports and activities as well as the usual inland attractions. There are many notable locations in the area, including Southampton, Oxford and Brighton. There is a vast array of attractions available to the public throughout the year in the region. The region has many remarkable museums and galleries, boasting some of the finest attractions in England. Steeped in history, the South East has a number of impressive buildings that help recreate the history of the region. If you are visiting the region then you should try and see one of the historic houses in the area. Cliveden, which was formerly the home of the Astors, in Berkshire, is one example of fine archaeological work in the South East, as is Blenheim Palace, in the Cotswolds, which is one of the most iconic buildings in the UK and has strong ties with historical figures in the UK. Amongst many other spectacular historical houses, Royal Pavilion and Basildon Park are worth visiting. The area also has a number of impressive cathedrals with superb architecture. Although there are many, Canterbury, Rochester and Winchester Cathedrals are a wonderful display of the rich heritage the area enjoyed in the past. The area is also very proud of the food and local produce from the area. To celebrate this, food and drink festivals are held throughout the year, where visitors can sample and buy some of the local produce. The Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival is without doubt one of the highlights, and is held annually in September. Other festivals include the farmers markets, which are also regularly held, with events in Witney, Deddington and Brighton representing the highlights. For the food connoisseurs out there, head to the small village of Bray in Berkshire, a village that has two restaurants that have both been awarded three Michelin stars, the Fat Duck and the Waterside Inn. This truly is amazing considering the size of the village and the fact that there is only one other restaurant in the UK which also has this prestigious award of three stars. For explorers, much of the inland South West has idyllic, picturesque villages and towns to discover. The inland area doesn’t offer too much in the form of hills and mountains, instead it is more like small destinations that are closely interlinked to others. However, with a vast amount of the region situated on the coast, plenty of the destinations enjoy stunning scenery and the natural landscape coastal areas enjoy. The South East is a wonderful place to visit, on a short or long term stay. The region has plenty of things to do and enjoy, and they don’t all come at a hefty price. The South East is as diverse as places come, if you want hustle and bustle or peace and quiet, all of it can be experienced here!
