The building itself dates back to 1820 and has magnificent views accross countryside on one side, and views over the adjacent golf course on the other. The interior and the decor is first class and will provide a warm and welcoming feel during your visit. Werneth Low is a country park which consists of eighty one hectares (two hundred acres) of grassland and wildflower meadows. The area offers pleasant walking opportunities and amazing views, which, on a clear day, can include the mountains of North Wales. In another direction, the Peak District looms, while Hartshead Pike is also a prominant landmark, towering over Ashton and the surrounding area. There is a Visitor Centre in the vicinity, and refreshment can be sought from the local pub, the Hare and Hounds, which is the oldest pub in the district, dating from 1794.
